Oral and Dental Tips

Floss Daily

No matter how careful you brush your teeth, the bristles of the brush will not be able to reach the areas between the teeth. Therefore, it is important to use dental floss once a day, and the best time is before bed, and it is preferable to use it before brushing teeth. Flossing keeps your gums strong and prevents the build-up of food residue and bacterial plaque between your teeth.

Why is Floss so Important?

It's the only way to remove plaque between teeth and below the gum line, where cavities and gum disease often begin.

Most people don't realize how important it is to take care of their gums as well as their teeth. Gum disease is an infection of the gum tissue and bone that supports the teeth and is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Most adults show some signs of gum disease, and the main reason is not using the teeth.

Additionally, recent research has shown that gum health may be associated with some chronic diseases. Recent studies have proven the association of gum disease with many diseases related to public health and may be a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, diabetes, or premature birth in pregnant women.

Regular Visits to Your Dentist

Your oral health reflects the state of your body as a whole. For example, when your mouth is healthy, your general health is likely to be good as well. On the other hand, if you have poor oral health, you may have other health problems. Therefore, seeing the dentist regularly not only helps keep your mouth looking its best, but also allows the dentist to monitor developments that may indicate other health problems.

As you get older, you are more likely to develop chronic diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis and heart disease. Researchers believe that symptoms of these diseases can appear in the mouth, making dentists key in diagnosing diseases. In fact, the dentist may be the first health professional to notice the problem.
